NAVRATRI

Navratri is a festival dedicated to worship of “Durga”...  The word Navratri means ‘Nine Nights’. During this nine nights nine forms of Devi are worshiped and on the tenth day “Dussera” is celebrated all over India. After the Dussera in Twenty days the festival of Lights that is Diwali is celebrated… Coming to Navratri all the nine days in temples they worship the different avatars of Durga with devotional songs and folk dances … from past many years now the Gujarat folk dances like Garba and Dhandiya are becoming common now in Goa… 

Many competitions are held of Dhandiya in temple’s and people purposely go to see this type of competitions because you feel very relief with the type of costumes they wear and also the music and dance its really awesome… At different places they have different steps… and I myself have participated in Dhandiya last two years and it’s really enjoyable…
