Christmas

CHRISTMAS

CHRISTMAS is celebrated in the month of December.

Everyone knows that on 25th December its Christmas it’s the day of Jesus.Everyone goes for the 12’o clock mass in the church on that day with new dresses …

Everyone seems to be very happy on this day … there are various sweets and dishes that are prepared on this day… and people visit their neighbors, families and friends to wish them and also to share their sweets to the poor and needy people… we can see the crib decorated differently with lights…

The specials sweets we eat are Nuereos, coconut burfi, bebinca, chocolate walnut etc…Every year I visit my friend’s house for Christmas and we really enjoy it ….

Mahashivratri

MAHASHIVRATRI
Mahashivratri is a festival of Hindus celebrated in Goa … Lord Shiva is worshipped on this day.
On the day of Mahashivratri, we wake up early in morning and take bath and visit the Shiva temple, to offer cold water milk and bael leaves on ling a symbol of worship… The worship continues the full day and night… some people fast on this day … and on this day they give us to put milk on the ling there are Arti, Bajans at night time…
In Goa Mahashivratri can be best seen at Shiroda in Ponda, Kavlem and Mangeshi Temple…
I have visited the Shiroda temple and its environment and all is really beautiful … there is one big lake in front of the temple and many people take bath there ….
It mostly comes in month of February or March.

Raksha Bhandan

Raksha Bandhan
You all must be knowing and celebrating Raksha Bandhan right????? Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on fool moon day in the month of shravan i.e. August.

‘Raksha’ means Protection and ‘Bandhan’ means binding…
On the day of Raksha Bandhan sisters tie Rakhi to their brothers wrist and prepares puja thali with Diya, Rice Rakhi and worship god and ask blessings first... then we tie Rakhi and pray for the well-being of Brothers and the brother accepts the love of her sister and promises her that he will be there with her in the needs and at all times…and gives gifts to sisters then we share and eat sweets like kaju katli, jalebi, Burfi etc. this festival strengthens the love between sisters and brothers…

like this every year we get different gifts from our brothers and we respect him on that day.
